(Colorado) -- A busy highway in eastern Colorado is listed as one of the Colorado Department of Transportation's projects underway right now.
You might've seen the work as it started a few months ago but we're revisiting the topic to remind you because of expected added traffic to the highway where the work is being done due to county fairs in Eastern Colorado. (see the schedules for all of the county fairs here on our 4H/FFA tab https://www.coloradonewsyourway.com/wegrowit)
CDOT is adding four passing lanes on 287 north of Lamar to Kit Carson. According to the Colorado department of Transportation's website, the project should be done by next February, 2023.
The work done will be added lanes between mile marker 94, which is north of Lamar to 96 and they're adding more at mile marker 114 to 116, North of Eads. On the southbound side two lanes will be added near the Cobblestone Inn & Suites in Eads and mile marker 120 and 122 which is south of Kit Carson.
The project is estimated to cost 9.7 million dollars.
