(La Junta, CO) -- The real reason behind a much-loved annual fundraiser in La Junta isn't the sudsy fun, music and food but a love of an historic building. Southeast Colorado Creative Partnership wanted to save the Plaza Building and while grants were coming in the funds needed to be matched. Nancy Aschermann with the non-profit says they decided to bring a beer tasting event to town a few years back and it's here to stay. (listen to an interview with Nancy at this link) https://www.coloradonewsyourway.com/listen
Participants enter the park the night of Brew fest, and are given a small mug with a lanyard, so you don't lose it. Then you just go from table to table sampling different types of beer. Make sure to visit the food trucks with local cuisine and enjoy the music from the band Whisky Trottle.
The event is June 11th from 6 until 10 at the Santa Fe Park across from the depot in La Junta. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time at the La Junta Chamber of Commerce on Santa Fe or at Big D's Liquor, west on highway 50.
Money raised from the event helps the Southeast Colorado Creative Partnership match funds needed for grants to restore the historic Plaza building. If you don't know the history behind the building, here's a link that explains it a bit.
So, finally here are the details again. We hope to see you there. Remember, there's always something happening in your community.
