UPDATED with name
(Prowers County, COLO) At 4:04 a.m. today, the Colorado State Patrol responded to a report of a passenger jumping out of a northbound Greyhound bus while the bus was in motion, resulting in the passenger being struck by a southbound semi truck on Highway 287 near milepost 68.
Twenty-six year old Pedro Simon of Denver was dead at the scene. His family has been notified according to information posted by the Prowers County Coroner on his social media page.
Highway 287 was closed from milepost 31 (Springfield) to milepost 73 (Lamar) in both directions. The long stretch of roadway is closed due to this area being mainly traveled by semi trucks. This is to allow semi trucks to pull over to park and wait for the roadway to open back open again. The highway was re-opened shortly after 10am Thursday morning.
