Otero County Goes On Record to Oppose a Presidential Order

(La Junta, CO) -- Otero County commissioners are making it clear that President Joe Biden's Executive Order 14008: Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad (January 27, 2021) isn't good for SE Colorado.

In a resolution, commissioners state that conserving land doesn't assure it's preservation. In fact it could hurt the land exposing it to more threats of wildfires and insect infestation.

The board stated they feel that private land ownership is important to the economic health of Otero county.

The order number 14008 signed by President Biden is part of an agenda referred to as 30 x30, a plan for the government to own 30 percent of the now privately owned land in the United States by the year 2030.

Here is the resolution that Otero County commissioners are putting forth and signing.
