(La Junta, CO) -- Arkansas Valley CASA Executive Director Cynthia Sollenbarger and Case Worker Brooke Proctor welcomed new CASAs to the team this week.
The social media post states:
Help us welcome new Arkansas Valley CASA volunteer advocates, Anne Boswell and Peggy Davis! Thank you for your commitment to helping children in our community.
Board members and CASA volunteers, Elaine Allison and Chris Casper joined us for the swearing-in ceremony, performed by Judge Mark MacDonnell.
And, with all disclosure, yes, that's me in the back next to Judge Mark MacDonnell. I was honored to be welcomed into the CASA family after training, a background check and fingerprinting.
A CASA is a Court Appointed Special Advocate. We are assigned a child to get to know. We might meet with them a few times a month. There's much more to this but volunteering doesn't take much time and is so important to help children in the court system. If you head over to this link, https://www.coloradonewsyourway.com/listen you'll find an interview with director Cynthia about what a CASA is and what CASA does NOT do. If you have any questions, she's always available to answer them.
