(Cheyenne County, CO) -- The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that resulted in one fatality. The crash occurred on Highway 40 near mile point 441 approximately four miles west of Kit Carson in Cheyenne County, Colorado. A 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer was traveling eastbound on Highway 40 and a 2014 Ram 1500 was traveling westbound on Highway 40. The Lancer traveled into the westbound lane and the front left of the Lancer struck the front left of the Ram. The Lancer was being driven by a 55-year-old female, who died as a result of the crash. Next of Kin Notification is still pending. The Ram was being driven by a 53- year-old male who suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. There was a 13-year-old male passenger in the Ram who was left with possible minor injuries as a result of the crash. The crash resulted in Highway 40 being closed for a long period of time.
