The following is a news release from the Colorado State Patrol.
(Pueblo, COLO) Colorado State Troopers responded to a crash on Highway 50 milepost 323 in Pueblo County at 5:27 a.m. on September 16, 2024.
Investigators determined that a nine-year-old boy had attempted to cross the highway from the Oakwood Estates Mobile Home Park before sunrise when he was struck by a semi-truck and trailer traveling westbound on Highway 50. The boy died at the scene. The driver of the truck is from the Pueblo area.
Details surrounding this crash are still being investigated. No charges have been filed against the driver of the semi who remained at the scene. The child's identity will be released at the discretion of the Pueblo County Coroner's office.
