CBI Launches Investigation After Body Found in Burning Car

May 26, 2025 – CBI –  Pueblo, CO – The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched a death investigation after a body was discovered in a burning vehicle south of Pueblo early this morning.

Just after 1:00 AM, a passerby alerted 911 to a car fully engulfed in flames on the west side of the frontage road parallel to Interstate 25, facing northbound near mile-marker 92.

The Pueblo Fire Department quickly responded and extinguished the fire. Upon further inspection, firefighters discovered a body inside the vehicle. The Colorado State Patrol and the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control both responded to the scene to assist.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation was subsequently called to process the scene and has taken the lead in the ongoing investigation. An autopsy will be conducted by the Pueblo County Coroner to determine the cause and manner of death, as well as to identify the victim.
