(Las Animas, CO) -- Kimberlie King will no longer represent her ward sitting on the Las Animas City council. King gave her letter of resignation to the city Tuesday, June 28th.
Dave Armstrong stepped down from his position on council in May stating that he had too much on his plate. Armstrong is also a teacher for Las Animas High School, track coach and is involved with the Las Animas Travel club.
City Clerk and Treasurer Charmaine Trip confirmed that King resigned her position on council.
The vacancy for King's spot will be announced formally at the regular city council meeting in July. The vacancy is for ward 3-precinct 8. Those interested and qualified to fill the seat can start to send letters of interest now to be considered.
At Tuesday night's regular meeting, council approved an appointment of Andrew Montoya to fill Dave Armstrong's vacant seat for Ward 2-precinct 9.
