(Denver, CO) -- Monday, April 11th, lawmakers in Colorado will consider yet another bill to change the name of a community college in the state. House Bill 22-1080 is up for a second reading in the Senate. The legislation would change the name of Pikes Peak Community College to Pikes Peak State College. Otero Junior College recently changed their named to Otero College with a piece of legislation signed into law in 2021 with the "Remove Junior From Certain College Names" bill or Senate Bill 21-008.
Many schools have stated with Junior or Community college in their name it's difficult to compete for enrollment.
