An Update to the Double Shooting in Otero County

The following is a news release from the Otero County Sheriff's Office





La Junta, Colo. – February 17, 2023 – At about 7:51P.M. Deputies from the Otero County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to assist the La Junta Police Department at McDonalds in La Junta on a report of a shooting. Shortly thereafter, it was determined two juvenile males were shot in the area of Otero County Road 27 and Hillside Road. Both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation revealed that this was an accidental shooting. The Otero County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating this incident but believes there is no danger to the public. The Otero County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the La Junta Police Department, the Rocky Ford Police Department, the Colorado Springs Police Department and the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office for their assistance in this investigation. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

It's a relief knowing that the victims are ok, but how does an "accidental" shooting claim TWO victims? Looking forward to updates.
